Simon Quinn is now a member of the Emerald Lakes Golf Club in the Gold Coast
A Longford golf enthusiast was celebrating this weekend when his club team pulled off a win in his adopted home of Australia.
Simon Quinn (42), originally from Forgney in Ballymahon, enjoyed success in an Interclub tournament with his local club Emerald Lakes Golf Club in the Gold Coast in the state of Queensland, Australia.
On their Facebook page the Emerald Lakes Golf Club posted: “Our loveable Irish larrikin who is passionate, unwavering, a former Club Champion and a member for well over a decade!
“With loads of personality and cheek there’s never a dull moment when Quinny’s around! Best of luck to the team taking on Links Hope Island today.”
Simon is a passionate golfer and a former member of Longford Golf Club. He notched up several competition wins in his home town club, including three consecutive Quinn Cups, before heading off to the land down almost 14 years ago.
Simon first won the Quinn Cup in Longford Golf Club at the age of 16. He works as a architectural technician in Queensland, Australia. His most recent golfing success is a source of great pride for his dad, Aidan and mother Bernie.
