The Longford Sports Partnership (LSP) section of Longford County Council is delighted to announce that it is inviting applications to join its approved panel of tutors for 2022 for a period of two years.
A Sports Ireland initiative, the LSP plans, leads and coordinates the development of sport and physical activity in County Longford. Target groups are older adults, women, men aged 30 and over and people with disabilities. Activities can include yoga, dance, Pilates, cycling, walking, general fitness training and much more.
LSP aims to increase participation levels in sport and active recreation throughout County Longford. In achieving this, it provides assistance in the areas of sports development, education and training and general information on sporting activities. The team works in partnership with sporting clubs, community organisations and local agencies in achieving the goal of “you taking part; more opportunities, more engagement, more awareness”.
The LSP hopes to encourage, support and promote sports and physical activity opportunities for everyone. The mission is to increase awareness, create opportunities and remove barriers to sports participation.
For the new panel of tutors, relevant expertise or qualifications in sport, health or fitness is required together with Safeguarding 1 and First Aid training are necessary. Experience in facilitating and leading group physical activity sessions and working with specific target groups as outlined above is also necessary. All successful applicants will be engaged through service delivery contracts.
