E. C. Gearty & Co Solicitors announce new Partner

E. C. Gearty & Company Solicitors have been providing legal services in County Longford and beyond since the late 1980s.  

The company was founded by the late Enda Gearty, Solicitor, father of Managing Partner Frank Gearty. Frank Gearty became principal of the firm in 2001. 

Frank is supported by his partners Sandra Carroll who joined the firm in 2002 and Lorcan Gearty in 2010. The partners are absolutely delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Duffy as partner to the firm.  

They believe Lisa’s appointment as partner will lead to further continued growth of the firm. 

The firm is also supported by Michelle Reynolds Solicitor, who is a vital member of the team, and 7 excellent support staff who have provided many years of service and loyalty to the firm some of whom have been working for the company in excess of 40 years.   

The Solicitors in the firm were all born and raised in County Longford or adjoining County Westmeath. 

Together they have a unique connection with Longford and provide a wide range of legal services ranging from Personal Injury, Civil Litigation, Licencing, Conveyancing to include agricultural property transactions, voluntary transfers of property, remortgaging of property, purchase and sale of residential and commercial properties, drafting of Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, highly skilled Court presentation and defence, through to highly specialised work in the area of Public and Political Administration.

E.C. Gearty & Co. provide extensive legal services to Longford and Leitrim County Councils and a number of other large public institutions in our region.  E.C. Gearty & Co. prosecute complex environmental and planning cases throughout the region and maintain an extensive list of Court Representation services in all Courts. 

E.C. Gearty & Co. are dedicated to providing excellent service to the community in Longford.  The firm has a strong reputation and has an excellent working relationship with the other legal practitioners in County Longford and further afield.

Frank Gearty


Frank Gearty, Principal,  qualified  in 1980 and has practised as a solicitor in Longford ever since.  He is a prominent and highly regarded District and Circuit Court Practitioner. He has been involved in many high profile serious local and national legal  cases over the years.  He has extensive experience in Public and Political Administrative Law.  He is Deputy Coroner for County Longford and is also actively involved in numerous important community organisations within the county. He serves as chairperson on the Board of Management of the largest primary school in County Longford St. Josephs NS, Longford.

Sandra Carroll


Sandra graduated from University College Dublin with an Honours Degree in Business and Law in 1997. Following her qualification as a Solicitor she joined E.C. Gearty & Co. in 2002. Sandra practices in Local Authority Law to include Judicial Review Litigation, Injunction cases, Compulsory Purchase Orders and Commercial Conveyancing for social housing schemes. Lorcan Gearty


Lorcan graduated from NUI Galway with BA Honours Degree in Legal Science and Maths in 2006.  He subsequently completed a postgraduate LLB and LLM in Public Law in 2008.  Lorcan completed his traineeship with E. C. Gearty & Co. in 2012 and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors.  He is part of the extensive Wills, Probate and Conveyancing Department in the firm but is also a regular Court practitioner, particularly in Civil and Debt Recovery matters.  Lorcan will reply promptly to any queries by phone or email lgearty@ecgearty.ie

Lisa Duffy


Lisa graduated from NUI Galway with an Honours Degree in Corporate Law in 2007. After completing her training in a Dublin based firm, she was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2012. Lisa joined the team at E.C. Gearty & Co in 2019. Lisa is part of the extensive Wills, Probate and Conveyancing Department dealing with estate planning, estate administration, Enduring Powers of Attorney and all property transactions. Michelle Reynolds


Michelle joined E.C. Gearty & Co. in 2015 as a legal secretary where she dealt mainly with Criminal and Family law. Through this work and encouragement from work colleagues Michelle went on to train as a Solicitor and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in early 2022. Michelle also completed a Certificate in Agribusiness and Food Law in 2020.  Michelle carries out work in our Wills, Probate and Conveyancing department but her core area of focus is Criminal Law and representation at Garda Stations.
