A defendant who was brought before Longford District Court on foot of a bench warrant was granted bail and will have matters dealt with in October.

Lithuanian national Artiom Maslov (37) of 5 Auburn Court, Pound Street Edgeworthstown faced a charge that he failed to keep a court appointment on March 21, 2023.

The defendant was due before court on that day to face charges of driving without documentation on June 22, 2022.

Garda Una Brady gave evidence of arresting the defendant in Edgeworthstown on the morning of the court sitting.

The defendant was represented in proceedings by solicitor Brid Mimnagh.

Ms Mimnagh requested a Russian interpreter be available for Mr Maslov when the matter is before the court on October 17 next.

Judge Patricia Cronin adjourned the matter to that date.
