Holders await Longford in next round

The holders of the Provincial Towns Cup, Enniscorthy, will be paying a visit to CPL Park on the 17th of February to contest who goes through to the third round. Longford and Enniscorthy have had some interesting encounters down through the years in this competition.

The holders of the Provincial Towns Cup, Enniscorthy, will be paying a visit to CPL Park on the 17th of February to contest who goes through to the third round. Longford and Enniscorthy have had some interesting encounters down through the years in this competition.

Last year after a 23 year gap Enniscorthy lifted the Towns Cup. This year the have no intention of handing back one of the oldest cups in sport. Being mid-way in the table as the season winds down will be a great incentive to the Wexford men to go all in for the silverware again this year.

The fact that they beat Tullow by six points in last years final will be an significant incentive for Longford, given that Longford let slip the advantage they held over the Carlow side twice this year. The home side have it up against them, but if they could secure a win over Declan O’Brien’s side it will be a good measure of their ambitions.
