Rising stars of Longford music scene to star at PVs Red Room for 'Almost Famous' launch
PVs Longford, Eoin Bailey and Shane Kennedy hope to bring it all back home this Friday in Pvs Red Room Longford with their first series of “ Almost Famous”; Longford’s newest monthly night of music featuring up and coming artists/performers.
Longford has always supported up and coming musicians of all genres with the help of it’s many institutions such as Denniston’s Longford, The Attic Youth Cafe, The School Of Rock, Music Generation and most recently Live and Local.
Almost Famous hopes to facilitate those bands that work so hard on their craft but often cannot find venues to play in or they haven’t got the equipment needed to pull it off the concert they might like.
“These young people work just as hard as athletes, spend just as much time with their craft and often spend more money on their craft yet they don’t get the same recognition. Hopefully with professional gigs like these, that’ll change,” co-ordinator Shane Kennedy says.
A lot of work has gone into the venture: “We’ve really transformed the Red Room into something that will surprise a lot of people. We’ve worked really hard to make this look and feel like a music venue and we’re really happy with the outcome. We just can’t wait to see it full of fans and friends on Friday.”
This Friday’s concert features music from The Citeogs, MAD, Memory Error, Deception and Room 36. These are fives bands already making waves on the music scene and showing no sign of stopping. They have a real DIY ethos and all they want to do is get together with friends and play music. The gigs hope to support younger band starting out or finding their feet in the music world.
“We’ve got the best sound engineers, lighting crew, photographers and young artists together for no other reason than to just have fun and entertain people. I’m really excited to see it all come together,” Shane said.
