National Cup semi-final preview: One of the biggest weekend's in Irish basketball begins

One of the biggest weekend's in the Irish basketball calendar begins this evening as the National Cup semi-finals kick off in Cork city. 

Over 22 games will take place across three of Cork’s biggest venues with spots in the InsureMyVan.ie National Cup finals up for grabs. 

The games are grouped into sessions across January 5-7 with some tantalising line-ups instore. 

The weekend begins with a Cork derby between Energywise Ireland Neptune and UCC Demons in the InsureMyVan.ie Pat Duffy National Cup at Neptune stadium at 8:00pm tonight. 

In the opposite semi-final in the Pat Duffy Cup the 2022 National Cup winners Garvey’s Tralee Warriors and current InsureMyVan.ie Super League champions Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig @MTU face off in the same venue 24 hours later. 

Earlier on Saturday, Neptune Stadium will host a double header of InsureMyHouse.ie Paudie O’Connor Cup semi-finals, FloMAX Liffey Celtics face Catalyst Fr. Mathews at 1:30, followed by defending champions Killester against Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell at 4:00.

The Women’s Division One Cup semi-finals are at Gurranabraher Credit Union Parochial Hall, with Oblate Dynamos against Limerick Celtics at 3:00 and defending champions Abbey Seals Dublin Lions playing against McEvoy’s Cavan Eagles at 7:00.

The Presidents’ National Cup semi’s take place at MTU Arena, which is a new venue for the 2024 event.

Mater Private Malahide face UCD Marian at 3:00, while Limerick Sport Eagles take on Moy Tolka Rovers at 5:30.

All the games will be streamed live on Basketballireland.tv. Full fixtures are listed below.

Men's President Cup semi-finals:
