Great sadness in Legan following death of Marcella Hunt

Late Marcella Hunt (née Kelly), Cluntymullen, Legan, Longford

There was great sadness on Monday, November 5 last as news spread of the peaceful passing of Marcella Hunt, at the General Hospital Mullingar after a short illness.

Marcella (nee Kelly) was born and raised in Newport and only moved a short distance to Cluntymullen when she married her late husband Peter.

She was a devoted wife and mother to her large family, renowned for her general domestic, home baking and cooking skills. She was very talented at knitting and crochet. She loved visitors especially her family, their spouses and grandchildren.

Marcella will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her sons Joe, Paddy, Pete, Brian, John, Martin, Jim, Gerard and Mick, her sister Brigid Piggott, her twin brother Billy Kelly, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, friends and neighbours to whom we extend sincere sympathy.

Marcella’s remains reposed at her home on Tuesday and Wednesday (November 6 & 7), and her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 8 in St Mary’s Church, Legan. She was laid to rest in Rathaspic Cemetery, united with her late husband Peter and daughter Margaret. May she rest in Peace.
