The official re-opening of the new playing pitches at Páirc na nGael, Dromard took place on Bank Holiday Monday and was a great success with a large crowd in attendance. Longford Live photographer Shelley Corcoran was there and we hope you enjoy her photos. READ MORE BELOW PHOTO

Club PRO Thomas Conefrey stated, “Thanks to everyone who participated in the different events and to all those who attended on the day. 

“A special word of thanks to our former Parish Priest Fr. Pat Lennon who blessed the pitch and to President of Longford GAA, Jimmy Fox, who performed the official opening.- 

“Thanks to the players, managers, referees and officials who participated in the various games on the day. 

“Particular thanks to Longford Slashers, Longford LGFA and Longford GAA for agreeing to allow the Club to host the Division 1 ladies final at Páirc na nGael to coincide with our reopening celebration. Congratulations to Longford Slashers on winning the title and hard luck to Dromard. 

“Thank you to everyone who helped out in any way during the day and with the preparations in advance. Thanks to the team of stewards, the ladies club for providing the shop, those who worked providing refreshments in the Clubhouse and on the grounds, lotto sellers, to PA Peter Masterson, to the Longford Leader and photographer Shelly Corcoran for their attendance and coverage and to everyone who contributed to the occasion in any way. 

“Thank you to the Club’s main sponsors Eamon and Philomena Gray and the Breffni Arms Hotel Arva for their ongoing support to the Club and for hosting our social with Claudia Buckley on Monday night which rounded off the day. 

“Thanks to the local businesses who have recently purchased new pitchside advertising signage at our main pitch. Any business interested in purchasing a sign for a five year period, please contact Theresa Duffy.”
