Mullinalaghta / Abbeylara Community Games swimmers Octavius Patriubavicius and Cillian Leonard proudly display their gold medals
Mullinalaghta was well represented at the National Community Games swimming finals in Kilkenny on Sunday.
Cillian Leonard of Leitrim took part in the under-16 backstroke and progressed from his heats to make the final, where he stormed home very strongly to take the gold medal.
Later in the afternoon, our youngest competitor, Octavius Patriubavicius of Cloonagh, took to the water in the under-10 freestyle and in a really tough heat made it through to the final where he put in an outstanding performance to take a second gold medal for Longford and for Mullinalaghta.
Congratulations to both boys and to their parents and coaches on these great victories and we are sure that many more athletic achievements await these two talented youngsters.
