A photoshopped screenshot purporting to be from a social media account of Fair City actress Una Crawford O'Brien and which announced the death of her partner, former Fair City actor Bryan Murray, has been circulating this evening.
Such was the response to the news that Mr Murray's family have had to issue a public response clarifying that the actor, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2019, had not passed away.
The post, which is currently being shared on WhatsApp and social media, appears to have originally been shared by a Fair City fan page, leading many to believe its authenticity.

The page stated that Ms Crawford O'Brien had shared the following announcement:
"It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of my dear husband, Bryan Murray, who left us last night. Our hearts are heavy as we come together to honor his life and remember the love, kindness, and beautiful memories he leaves behind. He will forever remain in our hearts" - Úna Crawford O'Brien shared.
Mr Murray's brother, Padraig, confirmed in the last hour that the post is fake adding that Una does not have a Facebook account.
He wrote, "Hello, there is a post going around purporting to be from Úna Crawford O'Brien saying that her husband Bryan Murray has passed away. This is not the case. I have just been speaking to Úna and she is shocked by this post, as are all the family. Neither Bryan nor Úna are on Facebook. Just to say again. Bryan Murray has not passed away."

The 'screenshot' of the death announcement is one of two posts that were shared by the fan page today in which they claimed Mr Murray had passed away.
Earlier today, the page displayed a photo of Bryan Murray in a scene from Fair City accompanied by a caption that said:
"SHOCKING SAD NEWS: RTE's star has passed away after 7 months since announcing retirement due to health issues. Farewell legend - you light will live on."
