Gardaí arrest two youths in Mullingar in connection with attack on Longford man

Gardaí have arrested two youths in Mullingar in connection with an attack on a Longford man who  remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí at Mullingar are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a male in his 30s with serious injuries on Grove Street, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in the early hours of Saturday, December 14.

As part of the investigation, two youths were arrested this morning, Wednesday,  December 18, in the Mullingar area.

The two, both males aged 17 years, are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Midlands.

The injured man remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any persons who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the areas around Grove Street and Mullingar Town centre between 12:30 am and 1:30 am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
