Longford Gardaí disrupt planned cannabis grow farm
An operation by Longford Gardaí uncovered a planned cannabis grow farm being set up near Killoe.
Local Gardaí arrested a man following a search operation in Cloonee, Longford yesterday.
In the course of the search €28,000 worth of suspected cocaine (pending analysis) and €6,260 in cash was seized.
A follow-up search discovered the cannabis grow farm – in the early stages of construction.
The searches were carried out by the Longford Divisional Drugs Unit, Western Region Armed Support Unit, Roads Policing Unit Longford, as well as officers from Longford and Granard Community Engagement teams.
A male was arrested in connection with the investigation. He is currently being detained at a Garda station in the Longford area under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and can be held for up to seven days.
