Crufts joy for Longford's Beechillawn Kennels

Good boys! Ben and Murphy with Seamus Gettings, judge Rachel Thompson and Maxine McCullough

Longford was well represented at Crufts last week as Beechillawn Kennels secured an award. Maura and Seamus Gettings have been involved with dogs for over 25 years and were very proud when their German Wirehead Pointer, SH CH/CIE Beechillawn Sound of the Underground - or just Ben for short - came out with his Challenge Certificate (CC).

He needs three of these to become a champion — this is his second. We’re delighted,” Maura told the Longford Leader.

“It’s nice for a small kennel like Beechillawn to achieve something like this. We’ve been very lucky with our dogs.”

Seven Beechilawn dogs competed this year, coming out with four first and three second place prizes between them.

Ben’s brother, Murphy, was the winner of the Reserve Challenge Certificate (RCC) at this year's competition.Last year, Ben was the RCC winner, while Murphy won the CC.

It's a lot of terminology for those not up to speed on Crufts language but, in layman's terms, they're both very good dogs!
