Stunning solo exhibition to be launched at Longford County Library to mark International Women's Day
This Friday, March 8, is International Women’s Day and, across the world, people will be celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Across Longford, a number of events celebrating local women will take place.
In the spirit of celebrating women, Longford Library will hold an exhibition by local artist, Laura Woods Hoban. The exhibition is called Showing Your Souls to Giants and will officially be opened by Sheila Reilly, Chair of Longford Women’s Link (LWL) and Head of Digital with Iconic Newspapers.
The event will take place on Friday, March 8, at 7pm in the Longford Library and all are welcome to attend.
Local organisation, Longford Women’s Link, will host a coffee morning from 11am until 4pm at the Willow Traders Charity Shop in Longford town. The charity provides valuable services to women in Longford from counselling, domestic violence, education and training to childcare.
In Ballymahon, the Bridgeways Family Resource Centre is organising an event with its Women’s Group to celebrate the achievements of women, mark the centenary of Dáil Éireann and enjoy some light entertainment.
There will be discussions with local councillors, live music, birds of prey, caricatures and plenty more. This event will take place on Friday, March 8, in the Dean Egan Library, Ballymahon, from 3.30pm until 5pm and is free to attend.
