Housing scheme to proceed in Granard.
Longford’s construction industry was given a further lift this week when it emerged a developer had been given the go-ahead to proceed with a housing scheme in Granard.
Local authority planning officials granted approval to Bernard Farrell to construct 17 terraced and semi-detached houses.
The plans provide for the development of private car parking, landscaping, entrance onto an existing service road, footpaths and public lighting.
Separately, planning has been lodged on behalf of Annagh Lake Swimming Pool Committee in north Longford for the proposed extension to an existing car park which currently services Annagh Swimming Pool.
The local group likewise want to install a new vehicular accessed boat slipway by converting an existing slipway into a facility that provides pedestrian access only.
Equally, provisions for a proposed walkway with low-level lighting, a recreational area, associated safety signage and safety measures to include the removal of hedgerows in order to improve existing sightlines are also included.
