Edgeworthstown writer, Dani Gill was thrilled with the success of her book launch, which took place in the Longford Library recently.

Dani's book, entitled 'After Love', is a book of poetry dealing with the changes in her life after ending a long-term relationsip.

“The launch was amazing, it was great to see so many familiar faces I haven't seen in a long time and to have the chance to read in my home county,” Dani told the Longford Leader.

“Most of my career to date has taken place on the west coast, and this was mentioned in the speeches, but also my childhood here, my teachers, and all of the things that had a hand in creating my identity.

“I was very humbled and moved by the level of thought and care the library service put into the event. I wasn't expecting such a fuss and it came as a big surprise!

“Having worked with The Backstage in the past six months, I've felt more of a connection to home, it's nice to come back to somewhere with something to give and to contribute to the community.

“I'm looking forward to being involved in the creative projects Longford has happening this year and I'm also looking forward to meeting some of the other Longford based writers who are having great success - such as John Connell, who is being published by Granta and will have a launch coming up.

“It's a big deal to be published by Granta, they are a very discerning publisher, so I'm looking forward to celebrating these important literary achievements by other Longfordians,” she concluded.
