A man who appeared before Longford District Court last week charged under the Road Traffic Act was convicted and fined €125 following a hearing into the matter.
Stuart McClean, Gurteen, Ballinderry, Co Tipperary appeared before Judge Seamus Hughes charged with driving in excess of the speed limit by driving at 111 km/h in a 100 km/h zone at Cranleymore, Edgeworthstown on March 3, 2016.
After the evidence in the case was outlined to the court, Mr McClean said that he had received the fixed penalty notice in respect of the matter and had tried to pay it.
“Unfortunately for me, the payment was late, so the whole lot was sent back to me,” he added.
“I have six drivers on the road and to be honest with you, I was trying to determine who it was that was actually driving the vehicle.”
Following his deliberations on the matter, Judge Hughes convicted the defendant and fined him accordingly.
