Longford poet to speak in UK

Award-winning poet, Noel Monahan - a native of Granard, is scheduled to talk at The Royal Literary & Scientific Institution, Queen Square, Bath, England, on April 21 next.

The title of his paper is: Poetry After Yeats, The Emergence of New Poetry In A New Ireland, with particular attention to Kavanagh, Heaney and Montague.

The paper will cover the Anglo Irish Revival through to the emergence of the Irish Free State and how the Inniskeen poet, Patrick Kavanagh challenged the established views on poetry in a new and changing Ireland.
