Council to launch new anti-social behaviour strategy in Longford

Efforts to curb the rising trend of anti-social behaviour are well underway thanks to a County Council led five year strategy, writes Liam Cosgrove.

Local representatives were given the first insight into the suitably named Draft Anti-Social Behaviour Strategy 2016-21 at last week's County Council meeting.

And despite the document still being in its draft format, members were keen to talk up its merits.
“It is the first time we have ever had a ready to go strategy like this,” said Independent Cllr Gerry Warnock.

Fellow non-party representative Cllr Mae Sexton was another to offer her support to the new tough handed approach.

“We only have to look at the repairs we have had to carry out in various estates which has left us running after our tails,” she remarked.
