Despite the cold weather, Longford retailers are reporting brisk trading as the town greets shoppers on the scent of red-hot Black Friday bargains.
Over one hundred Longford retailers are participating in the ‘Black Friday’ event promoted by the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Chamber President Derek Scanlon stated, “Last year’s Black Friday event was a significant success for all retailers that participated. There was phenomenal feedback with both retailers and shoppers praising the event. Some retailers reported that they had had their single most successful day in 10 years. That’s some achievement considering the recession that we have just been through.”
And here’s hoping that the sales of 2015 will be surpassed today!
In addition to the opportunity to avail of wide range of discount concessions and bargains in advance of Christmas rush, there is the added attraction of a Craft, Food & Drink Market on Market Square from 2 to 7pm.
Santa will officially switch on the Longford Christmas Lights at 6.30pm.
