Longford Tidy Towns garden battle

Longford Tidy Towns garden battle

Longford Tidy Towns brings out the competitive streak in residents of the different estates around town with its annual Longford Area Estate Litter League.

The competition is well underway at the moment (see adjoining page) and once again the estates of the town are throwing their weight behind the competition.

The local organisation has been quietly building up the Garden Competition in recent years as well with many green-fingered enthusiasts from around town entering the competition to showcase their hard work.  There are some wonderful gardens around Longford town but these dedicated gardeners get very little recognition indeed.

However the team behind Tidy Towns have set out to change all that by promoting local gardens  with the Garden Competition.

“We would encourage as many people as possible to enter,” Chairman John Farrell told the Leader this week.

The competition not only demonstrates garden pride but also pride in the town as competitions like this highlight the good work that is being carried out by individuals to improve their space in the world.
