Longford woman Cynthia Geelan and her fiancé Michael Cruise will be walking down the aisle in style after winning a €10,000 Dream Wedding from 'Win Our Wedding'.
“We got a Facebook message at around 2 o’clock [on Monday] that the voting was counted and it was just being verified,” Cynthia told the Leader.
“It was an awful afternoon,” she laughed.
“When we got the phone call, we were jumping around the sitting room and ringing the family.
Cynthia, who hails from Newtownforbes and Roscommon man Michael met in November 2014 and got engaged on Christmas evening, 2015. Cynthia, who is the Chairperson of the Longford Ploughing Association, entered the couple into the competition after seeing it on Facebook.
“Thanks to everyone that voted for us online and by text,” Cynthia continued.
The couple are currently saving for a mortgage and Cynthia admitted that the competition will now allow them to hold the small family wedding they have dreamed of.
“It takes a lot of pressure off of us,” she added, pointing out that otherwise, they could have been waiting up on six or seven years to find and settle into a house and save for the big day. “It means we can get married,” she smiled, adding; “Planning is full steam ahead!”
