Gardai not treating discovery of body in Longford town as suspicious

Gardai are not treating the discovery of a body from the River Camlin in Longford town this morning as suspicious.

The body was discovered at around 11am at the back of Longford County Council’s headquarters on Great Water Street.

Emergency services, including members from Longford’s Fire Services division and local gardai attended the scene this morning.

The body has since been removed from the water and a full post mortem examination is expected to take place later today.

No further information as to the identity of the deceased, who is believed to be male and from the local area, have yet been released.
