Streete Gathering will take place on October 26 and committee member Kevin brady is asking people to help with the parish genealogy. The school reunion is a great way to ask all who are coming to bring along photos of family friends, neighbours and even buildings. Kevin is hoping to collect as much material as possible. St Mary’s National School
The enrolment ceremony for the 1st Holy Communion class took place last Sunday in St Mary’s Church. The following children will make their Communion. Ciara Baird, Rebecca Reilly, Nicole McKeon, Alex Thomsen, Louis Greene, Brianna Clancy, Rachel Kelly and Dara Keaveney. Their teacher Ms McEnteggart is very busy at the moment preparing the children.
Well done to the pupils from Rathowen’s 3rd and 4th classes who drew with Empor NS on Friday, October 4. Thanks to Felim Heduvan who is doing a brilliant job. Well done to the children who ran in the cross country recently. Congratulations to Jasmine Maguire, Katie, Louie and Jake Green who all won medals.
There was a huge turnout on Thursday last for football training at the school. Thank you to Darragh and Caolan for their continued help. Well done to Caolan who had a great game for Inny Rovers and also Patrick Fitzgerald who got man of the match.
Frank Tighe had a brilliant game for Multy U-14’s in the final and was top scorer. Finally hard luck to the U-12 Clan na Gael girls who lost narrowly in their match. Girls from St Mary’s were Ciara Maguire, Karen Kelly and Maeve Green.
‘A wake In The West’ by MJ Ginnelly takes place on November 1 - 3 in the Community Hall, Rathowen. The cast are busy rehearsing and best of luck to all involved.
