Shoebox appeal

If you would like to donate a shoebox for children in underdeveloped countries.

Just get a average size shoebox, wrap the box in Christmas wrapping paper.

Fill your box with some of the following items, pen, pencil, copy book, colouring book, toothbrush, paste, soap, Gloves, hats, scarf, socks, underwear. Any of these items are suitable. There are 3 age groups, 2-4 5-9 10-14. Choose whether you are sending to a boy or girl, when your box is ready you can leave it in the post office before the 22nd November. Panto time

Its Panto time again .Oh no its not, Oh yes it is ! Students from Ballymahon Vocational School are getting ready to take on the Dickens Classic (SCROOGE.); A Christmas Carol; Why not join Scrooge ,Bob Cratchit, the Ghost of Christmas past, present and future in a show that will provide much interacton with the audience ? So get ready to embark on a pantomime unlike any other. Ballymahon Vocational school has a strong and rich history in pantomime and drama, Dating over the years and thus patrons can be assured of a show full of drama ,comedy and dance with a few surprises each night. The show kicks of in the vocational school on dec 4th and also on the 5th and 6th. Doors open 7.30pm show starts at 8pm. Adults 10 euro children /students /OAP. 5 euro. Work4you, Is set up by acquired brain injury Ireland, provides a free vocational assessment service for individuals who have acquired brain injury and would like assistant and guidance in returning to work, training or education.It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury and in receipt of a payment from Dept.of Social Protection. If you are interested in the service or would like more info , work4you are holding a pop-up information stand in Longford library on Tuesday 26th November 2013 between 11am and 1pm . Saturday 23rd vigil mass 6pm communion children. (Do this in memory). Collection in aid of Trocaire for the Children and Refugees in Syria, Collection will be held after Communion please give generously. Tickets for the annual Christmas raffle will be on sale from next week and will be delivered around along with the annual collection envelopes. Tickets can also be bought from any Parochial House member or Rathowen post office. Book of 6 tickets are 10 euro or 2 euro per ticket .First prize is 200 euro and numerous other prizes .

Property tax is payable at Rathowen post office, anyone with queries regarding their property tax can call in to Lorraine in the office and she will assist you. Christmas booklets are on sale now at a cost of 15 euro with 26 stamps (1 free). Latest dates of post abroad are : Ireland and northern Ireland 20th December Great Britain 19th December, Europe 13th December for parcels and 18th December for letters, USA 6th December for parcels and 11th for letters. Rest of the world 6th December. When sending parcels or packets please check the prohibited list of items to post ,this can be found on the an post website or ask Lorraine or Angela at the counter. Post right to secure a quick and safe delivery.

Ballinalack tidy towns are holding a table quiz in the western gem on 23rd November . please support


The Mulligan Sisters will perform operatic and sacred arias, along with musical theatre favourites in the Church of St Camillus, Killucan on Saturday 30th November at 8pm sharp. Tickets 10 euro available at the door.


Would like to thank all who helped out in their recent production and all who came along to support. The DVD is now available from Ger Connaughton. The first showing of the DVD will be in Connaughton’s on Wedensday night 20th November at 8pm with presentation of cheques to local charities on the night. All are welcome .
