A number of hours later it is alleged the woman was sent a number of sexual messages from a phone that was used by the pizza delivery driver.

Mizzoni's Pizza has issued a statement online in relation to the allegations and stated that they are cooperating with the authorities.

“We are deeply concerned by the reports circulating on social media alleging that a delivery driver associated with a Mizzoni's Pizza franchise sent inappropriate and sexual messages to a customer.

“Mizzoni's Pizza has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or misconduct of any kind,” they said in a message posed online.

They stated that “although the location involved is an independently owned and operated franchise using the Mizzoni's Pizza name under license, we take any allegation involving our brand very seriously.

“We have reached out to the franchise and have asked them to cooperate fully with the authorities and to conduct an immediate internal review. We will take appropriate action based on the findings of that review and any formal investigation.”

Mizzoni’s Pizza encouraged anyone who has suffered harassment to report it to Gardaí.

“We understand the seriousness of the situation for the customer involved. We support anyone who reports harassment and encourage the individual to share any information and evidence with both the local garda and directly with our corporate team at info@mizzoni.ie so we can assist where possible.

"We cannot comment on the specifics of an ongoing garda matter,” they concluded."
