A ten-year-old girl from Carlow stars in the brand New Conjuring: The Last Rites movie which has hit cinemas across the world in recent weeks.

In an exclusive interview, proud mother and owner of a talent agency in Carlow, Shauna Ray Lacy, has shared an insight into her daughter's huge success.

Emmy Nolan plays young Judy Warren, Ed and Lorraine's daughter, in the new The Conjuring movie: The Last Rites.

Her mother said that Emmy fell in love with singing and entertaining from a young age.

"Other kids would be watching cartoons and Emmy would be watching people singing on TV and she just loved it," Shauna said.

Shauna said that as soon as Emmy could speak she would said: 'Mom I want to be on the telly' or would point at the TV and say, 'me there! me there!'.

The woman said that she got her daughter an agent and from then she was able to star in her first voice-over role at just four years old.

She said that another thing that was helpful was the Spotlight Stage School in Carlow where Emmy was enrolled when she turned three.

"It really helped kick-start her career with all things singing....acting...dancing...and she then went on to productions where she was on the stage at just three years old."

"She just loved it," Shauna said.

Emmy's mother said that herself and Mary at the talent agency got a brief for The Conjuring: The Last Rites movie and Emmy started the audition process to get the role of young Judy Warren.

"They invited Emmy to do a self-tape...it consisted of performing a short scene with a reader which was myself and I just read back the lines...she had to also sing.

"This was a world-wide casting because they were looking for that right girl to be young Judy Warren."

Emmy moved on to a series of auditions involving zoom auditions and self-recorded auditions until finally the last audition she got to meet the direction Michael Chaves.

"She wasn't even in the zoom twenty seconds and she just came out and said 'they loved me' and it was in an American accent as well," Shauna said.

Shauna said that she and her daughter both spoke in an American accent around the house for the whole week in preparation for the final zoom call audition.

"It was about a day after we got an email to say that we would love to offer Emmy the role of young Judy Warren....it was just sensational."

She said that Emmy was so excited that it was her first feature film having featured in short films and commercials before.

"This is the biggest role so far she has got...she told all of her teachers and her friends and we were all just awaiting this spectacular journey we were about to embark on," Shauna said.

Shuana said that she was pregnant with her third child at the time so wasn't about to go with Emmy when she was on the film set.

She was a couple of weeks to and from London accompanied by her father. She had a private chauffeur and the team were amazing to her.

Emmy had three hours of school work with a private tutor a day while she was filming on the set in London.

"The experience has been sensational...with the whole cast....it's so amazing," Shauna said.

Emmy's mother said that she went to watch the movie the day it came out but because she isn't too fond of scary movies she had to keep her eyes closed until Emmy's parts came on!

"John would give me a nudge to say open your eyes....but Emmy loved the show reel she was sent of her parts and there was a particular scene where she went 'oh my god how did they do that' with the added special effects...she loved it so much".

Shauna said that Emmy has received a huge amount of support from her community in Carlow since the movie came out in cinemas.

"She got a congratulations letter from a lot of the councillors here in Carlow and her stage school gave her a special spotlight moment and gave her a massive clap.

"Emmy came home in tears and was so happy that everyone was clapping for her.....the love coming from everybody has been amazing.

"It's so mad when you think about it...that a little girl from Carlow, it's such a huge franchise it is just mega."

Moving forward for Emmy, her mother said that school is very important but "Emmy is very set in her ways even though she is only ten years old. That's her thing; she wants to be (an actress)....it's going very well, now she has a lead role for an incredible film."

Next for Emmy is a short-film based in Ireland at the end of this month.
