‘A true angel’: Tributes paid to young mum of three following her untimely passing

Tributes are being paid following the passing of a young Irish woman Aoife Treacy who sadly passed away recently, Leitrim Live has reported.

Aoife passed away on Tuesday, 24th June 2025, at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was described in one condolence as “one of those rare souls who brought light into every room.”

Aoife is survived by her husband Brian and their three children. She was a cherished daughter to Geraldine and Frank, a loving sister to Celine and Philip, and a beloved aunt to Arleine, Leah, Isla, Amelie, and Sophia, and nephew Jack.

 She is also deeply mourned by her mother-in-law Maureen, father-in-law Michael, brother-in-law Eunan and his wife Jacqui, sister-in-law Nolene and her husband Emmet, along with her aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends.

Aoife will repose at her home (Eircode: N41 NY63) on Friday, 27th June, from 2pm until 8pm, with a one-way traffic system in operation. Visitors are kindly asked to enter via Leitrim Village and exit onto the Ballinamore Road. The house will be strictly private outside of reposing times.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Joseph’s Church, Leitrim Village, followed by burial in Kilronan Cemetery.

Leitrim Gaels GAA paid a heartfelt tribute to Aoife in a statement on Facebook: “Since Aoife moved to the village, she has had such a positive impact on our club and on the community… Aoife was one of the supporters you’d be sure to see at every match cheering on her friends and family. Aoife’s positive demeanour was infectious — she always had a smile on her face and a warm welcome for everyone. She will be missed sorely by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.”

Tributes have poured in on RIP.ie from mourners who loved and have special memories with Aoife, with one person who wrote: “So sorry to hear of the loss of Aoife, such a wonderful girl — always filled our house with fun and laughter, a true angel. May your gentle soul rest in eternal peace.”

Another mourner said, "I have fond memories of great times in Australia with Aoife, always a breath of fresh air to be around. May your beautiful soul rest in peace Aoife."
