Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a young man who was reported missing last week and later found dead.
Seán Connaghan, 24, had been missing from Trim, Co Meath, since Thursday, April 24. A Garda missing person appeal was launched shortly after he was last seen on Loman Street in the early morning hours.
Sadly, Gardaí confirmed on May 1 that Seán’s body had been discovered and the appeal was stood down.
Originally from Finglas, Co Dublin, Seán is remembered as a much-loved partner, father, son, brother, and friend.
He leaves behind his partner Nikita and young daughter Arabella, his parents, siblings, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.
His death notice on RIP.ie said he would be “very sadly missed and remembered with love always” by those closest to him.
Tributes have poured in online, with many sharing memories of Seán’s humour and warmth.
“Sean was a chap you were always guaranteed to get a laugh or a joke from,” one mourner wrote. “He was a character that you’d always remember. He will be truly missed.”
Another message read: “Rest easy our Seany boy, never a dull moment with you up in Finglas. You’ll forever be remembered by that infectious smile and slaggings. Look over your beautiful baby girl and your family.”
Scoil Rince Ní Anglais also paid tribute, saying: “Before we have time to reflect on the highs and the lows of the past weekend we need to take time out to mourn one of our own. A young lad I taught a few years back.
"Sean Connaghan as many of you know was missing for over a week and despite the efforts of Meath Civil Defence, Gardai, Boyne River Rescue, Erin’s Isle Club members, the Connaghan family and hundreds of friends it was not the outcome everyone wished for.
"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Sean’s Family. His Dad Anthony, Mam Grace, twin brother Lorcain, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. May Sean Rest In Peace."
As a mark of respect, the school cancelled classes.
Seán will repose at Massey Bros Funeral Home, Finglas, on Tuesday, May 6, from 5pm to 7pm. His funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday morning at 10am in St Canice’s Church, Finglas Village, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
