Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Stradbally, County Laois on Sunday night.
A man in his 70s was tragically killed after being hit by a car at approximately 10.45pm on Sunday on the N80 at Crannagh.
The man was pronounced dead a short time later and was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise. Gardaí confirmed that the female driver of the car, aged in her 30s, was not injured.
This is the second fatal collision to occur in Laois over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Aaron Hussain aged just five-years-old was tragically killed after being hit by a car in Kilminchy, Portlaoise.

The road is currently closed on Monday morning as the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out their investigation.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may witnessed the collision to contact them. Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N80 between 10.30pm and 11pm on Sunday night are asked to come forward.
