RIP: Gardaí issue tragic update as search for missing man stood down

Gardaí have sadly stood down the search for missing 51-year-old Brendan Gilsenan following the discovery of a body in Cavan on Wednesday morning, 1 January.

Brendan had been reported missing from his home in Tullyco, County Cavan since Monday, 30 December.

The gardaí had issued a public appeal for information surrounding Brendan's disappearance earlier this week.

They have thanked the public and media for their assistance in the search.

No further information has been disclosed.
