A young man was found dead this morning following after his vehicle left the road in Co Cork.
Gardaí were alerted to the fatal road incident at 9am this morning, which had occurred on a road between Bantry and Ballydehob, Co. Cork.
The collision involved one car, and Gardaí confirmed that the driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The young man was transported to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem examination.
A technical examination is being carried out and local diversions are in place following the tragic incident. A spokesperson confirmed emergency services are "currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the N71 in Bantry, County Cork."
Anyone who was traveling between Bantry and Ballydehob during Sunday night or early hours of Monday morning and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) is asked to contact Gardaí.

News of the road death comes just hours after a young man in his 20s died in hospital in Galway, three days after being involved in a single vehicle collision in Dunmore.
