Man in his 80s dies after horror crash between van and car

A man in his 80s has died following a fatal collision in county Meath this Tuesday evening.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision in Nobber, county Meath. The collision occurred at approximately 5pm this Tuesday evening, October 15 on the R162 Nobber to Kingscourt Road.

The two-vehicle collision involved a car and a van. The driver of the van, a male aged in his 80s, was fatally injured during the collision.

The two occupants of the second vehicle were taken to hospital by ambulance services and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The R162 Kingscourt to Nobber road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. The road will remain closed overnight.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling between Navan and Kingscourt on Tuesday evening between 4.30pm and 5.30pm are asked to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
