Woman arrested for public order 'incident' near portal connecting Dublin to New York

A woman has been arrested near the new visual portal, which connects Dublin to New York.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was arrested under the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994, on North Earl Street, in Dublin 1 on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson for the gardai said they were on routine patrol when they made the arrest.

"She has since been charged in relation to this and is expected to appear before the CCJ District Court at a later date," said a spokesperson for the garda.

A video circulating on social media showed a woman being escorted by garda, away from the real-time visual bridge, which faces onto O'Connell Street, capturing the GPO and the Spire.

The installation features an on-street sculpture, which links Dubliners to New Yorkers, in real time, 24/7, as part of the art project.
