Gardaí in Dublin have seized almost €500,000 in cash and arrested one woman, dealing a "significant blow to an organised criminal group
As part of ongoing intelligence-led investigations targeting serious and organised crime in the Dublin Region, officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) arrested a woman in her 40s in the Dublin 2 area for an alleged offence, contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006, this Friday, April 12.
During the operation, approximately half a million euros in cash, along with a vacuum packing machine and documentation, were recovered.
The woman is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, allowing for a maximum detention period of seven days.

Following the operation, Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly, head of Serious & Organised Crime, stated: 'This seizure of approximately half a million euros in cash is a significant blow to an organised criminal group."
"I commend the hard work and dedication of all the Gardaí involved in this operation. Such work demonstrates An Garda Síochána's commitment to disrupting criminal networks and preventing money laundering.
"The seizure of substantial quantities of cash is a priority for the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Unit (GNDOCB), as cash often underpins and enables the activities of criminal organisations," Commissioner Kelly continued.
Investigations are ongoing.
