Reshuffle of senior gardai confirmed following recent promotions and transfers
A reshuffle of senior gardai has been confirmed for a number of divisions across the country while other changes have taken effect under the continuing roll out of the new garda operating model.
The changes, announced this Monday, are as a result of recent promotions and transfers within the force.
Chief Superintendent Thelma Watters has transferred from the DMR Regional Office to the Office of the Commissioner at Garda Headquarters.
Chief Superintendent Sorcha Fitzpatrick has been appointed to the Kildare garda division.
Chief Superintendent Goretti Sheridan has been assigned to the Donegal garda division, following her promotion.
Chief Superintendent Peter Burke has taken up a new role at the DMR Regional Office, following his promotion.
Under the new garda operating model, Superintendent Marilyn Brosnan, has been assigned to Blanchardstown garda station in Dublin where she will have responsibility for the DMR West Performance Assurance Functional Area.
Superintendent Brian Farrell has been assigned to Naas garda station where he will have responsibility for the Kildare Division Performance Assurance Functional Area.
Following his recent promotion, Superintendent Brian Hoey has been assigned to Claremorris garda station where he will have responsibility for the Mayo South Community Engagement Functional Area (part of the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford garda division).
It has also been announced this Monday that Superintendent Emer Curran took up her new role at Blanchardstown garda district a week ago.
The restructure reflects international best practice as well as the realities of modern day policing in Ireland, the changing nature of crime and population trends.
Once the roll out is complete, the total number of garda divisions in Ireland will reduce from 28 to 21.
