Longford motorists are being warned to expect delays in the days ahead due to roadworks across the county.
L-1038 Esker South drainage works
To facilitate drainage works on the L-1038 Esker South a stop/go system or temporary traffic lights may be used between 8am and 4pm on Monday, October 13 to Tuesday, October 14. The road will remain open but short traffic delays should be expected.

L-1041 Cartrongolan road repairs
To facilitate road repairs on the L-1041 Cartrongolan a stop/go system or temporary traffic lights may be used between 8am and 6pm from Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17. The road will remain open but short traffic delays should be expected.
Old N5 Ballyminion resurfacing works
To facilitate resurfacing works on the Old N5 Ballyminion, a stop/go system or temporary traffic lights may be used between 8am and 6pm up until Friday, October 17. The road will remain open but short traffic delays should be expected.

Fire & Shadows Halloween Procession 2025
To facilitate the Fire & Shadows Halloween Procession 2025 on Friday, October 31, the parade route - Connolly Barracks, Bridge Street, Main Street, Ballymahon Street & Market Square, will be closed from 6pm – 11pm.
The procession route is from Connolly Barracks onto Bridge Street, proceeding up Main Street, Ballymahon Street and onto Market Square. This includes the junctions of:
Main Street (R198-131) and Little Water Street (L-7001-0)
Main Street (R198-131) and Great Water Street (L-3002-0)
Main Street (R198-131) and Richmond Street (L-3025-0)
Dublin Street (N-63-592) and Centenary Square
Ballymahon Street (N-63-590) and Kilashee St (N63)
Ballymahon Street (N-63-590) and Market Square (N63-587)
New Street (N63-594) and Earl Street (L-3011-0)
All through traffic is requested to use the N4 & N5 Longford Town By-passes. Traffic management/signed diversions will be in place for local traffic. On completion of Procession, roads may open when safe to allow access, which could be in advance of advertised time.
