ALERT | Longford motorists warned of delays over N55 Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown closure
Longford motorists are being warned to expect delays over the temporary closure of the N55 Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown for the next number of weeks.
There are also temporary road closures at the L-10361 Fostragh and the L-1055 – Killnacarrow to Garvagh.
Temporary Road Closure N55 between Edgeworthstown and Ballymahon
The N55 between Edgeworthstown and Ballymahon will be closed from Monday, August 25 to Friday, November 28 to facilitate the installation of water mains by Uisce Eireann and essential roadworks by Longford County Council.
For traffic from Edgeworthstown to Ballymahon the suggested alternative route is: Divert at Edgeworthstown to Longford via the N4. Take the N63 towards Roscommon. At Ballymacormack, turn left onto the R397 and proceed to Ballymahon via Kenagh on the R397 and R392.
For traffic from Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown the suggested alternative route is: Divert at Ballymahon via R392 towards Lanesboro. Turn right onto R397 to Longford via Kenagh. At Ballymacormack take N63 towards Longford, then follow signs for N4 Dublin to Edgeworthstown.
A full road closure of the N55 will be in place between the junction of N55/R399 at Doory Cross and the junction of N55/L-1121 Toome Cross. No through access will be permitted at this section. Local access will be facilitated elsewhere along the N55.
Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the works. In the interest of road safety, you are requested to heed all signs.

Temporary Road Closure L-10361 Fostragh
The L-10361 Fostragh will be closed on Monday, August 25 to Friday, September 5 (excluding weekends) from 8am – 5pm to facilitate planned work under the roads programme 2025.
Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the works. In the interest of road safety, you are requested to heed all signs.
Temporary Road Closure L-1055
The L-1055 – Killnacarrow to Garvagh will be closed from 9am – 5pm until Monday, September 8 to enable essential bridge repair work at Killnacarrow Bridge.
Local access as far as Killnacarrow Bridge will be maintained, but there will be no through access at the bridge for safety reasons. Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the works. In the interest of road safety, you are requested to heed all signs.

Roadworks R393 Dublin Road
Roadworks at the R393 Dublin Road (night-time works only, 9pm to 6.30am) to facilitate bridge painting works will continue up until Tuesday, October 21.
Stop/Go or Temporary Traffic Lights may be used during the works. Local Access will be permitted during the works.
