Longford planners approve redevelopment of Edgeworthstown site

The Park House Hotel and 11 Church Street, Edgeworthstown, will go under the hammer at the next Allsop Space property auction on Tuesday, July 1.

Local authority officials are to examine the prospect of installing a new pedestrian crossing at a busy junction beside Edgeworthstown's Park House Hotel

Longford County Council have granted permission for a planning application lodged last July to demolish the Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown.
The application is for the proposed demolition of the existing former hotel building and attached outbuildings was granted subject to 16 conditions. Mayer Oval Ltd made the application for the redevelopment of the site at Main St, Edgeworthstown, Longford.

The Killoe based development company have been granted permission to construct a mixed use, two storey terraced block incorporating one retail or commercial space on the ground floor level, a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor level and seven two-storey two-bedroom terrace dwelling houses.

The application also covers construction of a two-bedroom single-storey house, and the upgrading of the existing entrance, proposed internal access road, car parking, green open space, bicycle stands, EV charging points, proposed connections to the existing foul sewer, surface water and watermain networks servicing.

There were two objectors on file to the planned redevelopment of the Edgeworthstown's landmark building. Sean O'Donnachu's objections related to observations of inconsistencies in the planning application, while engineer John Madden made an application on behalf of the Quinn family who own property adjacent to the site.
Local authority planners conditions include considerations regarding road design, water and waste water restrictions, provision of a bond of €90,000 and payment of a development fee of €21,870.
