Longford farmers set for Carrick-on-Shannon Winter Fair

The members of the Midland and Western Livestock Improvement Society, Carrick-on-Shannon are busy preparing for their 17th Annual Winter Fair with the show on Sunday, November 27 and the sale on Monday, November 28.

The judging on Sunday, November 27 commences at 11am with 25 young stockpersons vying for the first prize of an RDS silver medal.

Following this opening class, two judging rings will be used for the exhibitors, who have traveled from 22 of the 26 counties for the remaining 33 exhibit classes.


The very best of Limousin, Charolais, Belgian, Blue, Simmental, Parthenaise, Shorthorn, Hereford and Angus commercial stock will be on show.


The Belgian Blue female 450kgs or under class has 75 entries, while there are 65 entries in the Limousin female 450kgs or under suitable for breeding class.


On Monday the sale, to be conducted in catalogue order, will commence at 11am.
So, if you are looking for a top quality breeding heifer or heifer or bull weanling, Carrick-on-Shannon is the place to be for choice and quality this month.
