Longford parents vent fury at appearance of bollards outside local schools

Parents have expressed their dismay over the sudden construction of bollards just yards from a busy school pick up and drop off point.
Last week's meeting of Longford Municipal District heard how concerns had been aired at the sudden installation of the traffic control devices outside St John's National School and St Christopher's Services on the town's Battery Road.

Cllr Martin Monaghan said he fielded no fewer than four phone calls on the day of last Wednesday's meeting from “irate” parents.
Executive engineer Brian Faughnan said the decision to erect the bollards, which are flexible, had been made after public consultation, but said representatives aligned to the council's Active Travel Scheme Unit would be open to engaging with those who had lodged complaints.
