Defendant tells Longford District Court: “I'm sorry for the way I come across. Hopefully I'll never be here again.”

A mother of four will return before Longford District Court in November to have a number of cases concluded.

Mary Lawrence (33) of 1 The Hollow, Longford was the subject of a bench warrant issued on September 17 last at Longford courthouse for failing to appear for a court hearing.

The original offence was from June 26 and 30, of 2023 when she produced a false instrument, a MABS budget plan for an SSE Airtricity bill.

Ms Lawrence said she could not attend the previous court hearing because one of her children was ill. It was stated that she had been the subject of three bench warrants on the matter.

When the defendant became argumentative during the hearing Judge Owens remanded Ms Lawrence in custody over the lunch period.

When the matter resumed solicitor John Quinn said his client was prepared to undertake community service. He told the court the defendant was diagnosed as bi-polar and had a number of mental health issues. He said Ms Lawrence is the mother of four children under six.

“I'm sorry for the way I come across,” Ms Lawrence apologised to the judge, “Hopefully I'll never be here again.”

Judge Owens adjourned the matter to November 19 next.
