Longford trio plead guilty ahead of Circuit Court trial start

Three men have pleaded guilty to charges of affray and careless driving causing harm, just ahead of their Longford Circuit Court trial.

A jury was sworn in for the trial of Jamie Dinnegan, of 18 Grian Ard, Ardnacassa, Longford, Noel Ward, of 8 Spring Lawn, Longford, and Michael Ward, of 30 Palace Crescent, Longford, which was due to start on Wednesday, January 31, last.

However, following directions from the DPP, an amended indictment was put to the defendants, with Mr Dinnegan and Mr Noel Ward pleading guilty to a charge of affray on January 24, 2022, and Mr Michael Ward pleading guilty to a charge of careless driving causing harm on the same date.

All three men were remanded on bail to the July sittings of Longford Circuit Court.
