Berehynia is a Slavic goddess who is a protectoress of home. She is a symbol of Ukrainian Independence.

In Kyiv there is a monument of her, holding a viburnum branch, the national symbol for women, motherhood, and love.

Mythology and history are full of powerful Goddesses and ordinary women who were responsible for what today can be called a triple P idea - Protection, Peace and Persistence.

Times have changed since Berehynia and St Brigid had influenced the world but one thing remains the same. It has always been a woman who brought peace and growth.

Today, women of Ukraine are facing consequences of decisions they had never taken part in making.

Women of Longford take off on a journey to help with a roof packed camper van and a trailer. Others arrange and organise and coordinate more aid to those in need.

We are programmed to protect and help far more than we give ourselves any credit for.

But today is about celebrating!

Celebrating the womeness of modern days.
The women of choice.
The women of balance.
The women of wisdom and logic.
With no super power,
with no intention to start any war but with every effort to finish it.
We are a givers.
Have been since the beginning of time.
However, the hardest thing to realise sometimes is that watering a stone won't ever make it alive.

Take care of yourselves dear fellow women. Stay safe and get spoiled today.

Happy International Women's Day.
