All systems are go in Meán Scoil Mhuire as the whole school comes together to organise the first major fundraiser the school has hosted in over 20 years.

The Meán Scoil Mhuire Fashion Show is going to be held on Saturday, March 10 at 7.30pm in the Longford Arms Hotel.

Meán Scoil Mhuire is a vital part of the Longford Community, proudly educating the young ladies of Longford in the Mercy tradition, maintaining high standards and achieving excellence in education.

From the get-go, many local businesses have gotten behind the project and have contributed very generously in the form of sponsorship and spot-prizes, proving that the community spirit in Longford is very much alive and kicking!

There was a great buzz around the school in the weeks leading up to the midterm break as auditions were held in order to choose the entertainment that would take place during the interval of the Fashion Show.

“We were absolutely astounded at all the various talents the students of Meán Scoil Mhuire had to offer!

It was a very tough decision but Miss Quinn our music teacher was finally able to pick the successful auditionees.

Miss Quinn thoroughly enjoyed her 'Simon Cowell' status in school that week!

Another in-school competition connected with the Fashion Show was the Art competition held in order to find the artwork that would adorn both the Fashion Show posters and tickets.

We were absolutely blown away by the standard of art-work that we received!

Although it wasn’t an easy choice, we ultimately picked the drawing (pictured) by the incredibly talented Aoife Sheridan in fifth year.

I think everyone can agree that her picture is absolutely stunning!!

Now we are in the midst of co-ordinating with the different shops involved in showing off their fabulous attire on the night and ensuring that there will be looks that will cater to all ages, shapes and sizes.

The local shops involved on the night include: Spirit Clothing, Matt O’ Brien's, Lure, Love Culture, Tally Weijl, Dolls, Kenny's, Durkin's, DV8 and Wendy Louise Headpieces.

We have to say that the astounding level of support and community involvement we have received has truly left us at a loss for words.

We are genuinely so thankful and indebted to everyone who has gotten behind this project and given us so much support and help with our Fundraiser.

We are hoping this Fashion Show will bring a real feel-good factor to the town.
So keep your diaries free for March 10 for what promises to be a fabulous night of fashion, frolics and fun!

Tickets are €15 and include a free champagne reception and are available from all participating outlets and also from the school!

We hope to see you there! Don’t forget, there will be a prize for best dressed on the night!
