The Senior Executive Engineer for Longford County Council, Peter Brady, has confirmed the council will carry out maintenance of existing gullies and drains in the Clonbalt Woods Estate.

The engineer made the commitment after Councillor Gerry Hagan called on the council to clear the drains and gullies of the estate, which is situated outside Longford town, after blockages resulted in residents experiencing problems with flooding on roads within the estate.

An exact date for the commencement of the work was not disclosed.
