Manager, Betty Finnegan, talked about the efforts by staff and locals for Bethany House
Penneys in Longford Shopping Centre is showing its Christmas generosity by setting up a stand for the local charity, Bethany House. Displayed right beside the entrance, the Christmas-themed table had leaflets for Longford Women’s Link, as well as a box for donations to be placed.
The stand was visible to the public on Thursday, December 4 during the store’s opening hours.

To get involved, the instruction said the following: Donate: bedding, toys, hats, scarves, shoes, pjs, socks, underwear. Or kindly donate a gift card.
Manager of Penneys in Longford, Betty Finnegan, spoke about how this effort came about:
“Our colleagues voted in store to select a local charity for us to support. The one we selected was Bethany House, as we are really thankful for the work they do in our local community.
“We were also given a budget of €500 from Penneys, as they are aware of how passionate we all are to giving back to the local community at this time of year. We asked our colleagues and customers if they would like to donate either by purchasing a gift card, or selecting slippers, pyjamas, etc.”
She encouraged the public to give toys to the box that are in good, working condition.
“These are packed into gift packs and we will present them to the charity before Christmas.
“A presentation is happening on Wednesday, December 10,” she explained.
