'Triumphant' success for Cloonfour NS Quid Game in Longford Arms Hotel

The evening commenced with 32 eager contestants stepping up to take part in the exciting competition

A thoroughly enjoyable fundraiser held in aid of Cloonfour National school at the Longford Arms Hotel last Saturday generated significant support for the local school.


The highly anticipated 'Cloonfour N.S. Quid Game' event attracted a large crowd and organisers were delighted with the proceeds raised on the night.

The evening commenced with 32 eager contestants stepping up to take part in the exciting competition.


Over the course of six intense and challenging rounds, participants battled it out, testing their nerve, skill, and luck.
Spectators described the atmosphere as electric, with every elimination and victory met with cheers and gasps from the packed venue.


The organisers described the level of competition as being 'truly fierce'.


They said 'every contestant put on an incredible show', making it a very entertaining spectacle for everyone in attendance.
The organisers also stated the event showcased the fantastic community spirit and dedication to supporting local education in the area.


The five rounds whittled the field down to a nail-biting finale, a showdown in the infamous 'Cash Cube'.


The final two competitors, both fantastic local representatives from the Tarmonbarry area, then went head-to-head.


The objective was simple but frantic, to grab as many valuable green notes as possible while desperately trying to avoid the dreaded red notes, which incurred a penalty on the final count.

After a dynamic dash and an official, meticulous count by the event officials, a champion emerged.


A huge round of applause and congratulations went to the well-deserved winner, Niall Toher.


The organising committee has extended a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the hugely successful night, including all the 'brave contestants, the generous sponsors whose support was vital, and the wonderful, enthusiastic crowd'.


The funds raised from the evening will provide significant support to Cloonfour NS and its pupils and all are looking forward to the development of the fantastic new astroturf pitch
