Roisin Sheahan accepts Peter Murphy Memorial Award at LCFE awards ceremony

The ballroom at the Longford Arms Hotel was thronged as special guests and the staff from Longford College of Further Education (LCFE) celebrated the fantastic learners who graduated from the QQI Level 5 & 6 courses they had successfully completed during 2024/2025.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Peter Murphy Memorial Award to Roisin Sheahan who flew from Edinburgh specially for the occasion.

A large number of learners along with their family and friends attended the glittering awards ceremony.

Cllr Peggy Nolan (Chair of the Board of Management for Templemichael College) was on hand to present the awards.

On the night, the Peter Murphy Memorial Award was presented to Roisin Sheahan who completed the Level 5 Nursing Studies Programme in LCFE.

Roisin delivered an inspirational speech about her journey through education, explaining how she began the Nursing Studies Level 5 course in September 2020, right in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roisin successfully completed her QQI Level 5 qualification in 2021 and was subsequently offered a place at Edinburgh Napier University. She went on to graduate with distinction in General Nursing and has since secured a position in orthopaedic trauma at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. Roisin had travelled all the way from Edinburgh to join us and share her inspiring journey.

Thank you to Yvonne Ni Mhurchu, daughter of the late Peter Murphy, who presented the Breadain Feasta to Roisin on behalf of the Murphy Family.
